Flame Retardant Standards for Protective Workwear

The required standard depends on the work hazard and garment use. BEGOODTEX checks available test reports for the exact fabric you select.

Welding & Allied Processes
EN ISO 11611

For welding clothing exposed to welding spatter, brief flame contact and radiant heat. Selected FR cotton, aramid and high-heat materials can be reviewed for welding-related projects.

Heat & Flame
EN ISO 11612

For industrial protective clothing where workers may face flame together with radiant, convective or contact heat and selected molten-metal splash hazards.

Limited Flame Spread
EN ISO 14116

For garments where reducing flame spread during brief contact with small flames is the main requirement. It should not replace stronger thermal-protection standards where higher heat hazards exist.

Industrial Flash Fire
NFPA 2112

Relevant to industrial protective clothing used in oil, gas, petrochemical and other environments where flash-fire exposure is part of the workplace hazard assessment.

Electrical & Arc-Rated Workwear
ASTM F1506

For flame-resistant and arc-rated protective clothing used by workers exposed to momentary electric arc and related thermal hazards.

Electrostatic Protection
EN 1149-5

For protective clothing where electrostatic charge control is required. Selected aramid and workwear constructions include conductive or anti-static fibers.

Firefighting Applications
EN 469

Selected protective materials may be used within firefighting clothing systems. The complete garment, layer structure and exact project requirement should be reviewed separately.

Not every protective fabric carries every report. Send the hazard, garment type, destination market and required standard so BEGOODTEX can check the exact material and available documentation.

FAQ

Flame Retardant & Fireproof Protective Fabric FAQ

What is the best flame retardant fabric for protective clothing?

There is no single best fabric. The correct material depends on the workplace hazard, garment type, required standard, weight and additional functions. BEGOODTEX can shortlist aramid, FR cotton, modacrylic, Oxidized PAN and blended options according to the project.

Do you supply fabric for welding clothing?

Yes. Selected FR cotton, aramid and Oxidized PAN fabrics are available for welding-related protective applications, with EN ISO 11611 support depending on the exact product.

Do you supply anti-static flame retardant workwear fabric?

Yes. Selected protective fabrics use conductive or anti-static fibers, including aramid constructions where electrostatic control is part of the project requirement.

Do you supply arc-rated fabric for electrical workers?

Selected protective fabrics support ASTM F1506 and related arc-performance requirements. The required arc rating should be confirmed against the exact fabric and workplace hazard.

What is the difference between Aramid and Oxidized PAN?

Aramid is commonly used where inherent flame resistance, strength and wearable garment construction are required. Oxidized PAN is more focused on demanding thermal and high-heat applications where non-melting behavior and high LOI are important.

Do you supply FR cotton workwear fabric?

Yes. BEGOODTEX supplies FR cotton constructions including twill, canvas, stretch fabrics and heavier cotton-nylon blends for different industrial workwear requirements.

Can protective fabrics include waterproof or anti-static functions?

Yes. Additional functions such as anti-static, waterproof or water-repellent, stretch, visibility and selected chemical-resistance options are available depending on the fabric.

Do you supply fireproof fabric for high-temperature protective clothing?

Yes. Selected Oxidized PAN and aluminized aramid materials are available for high-temperature and radiant-heat applications. Fireproof performance should be confirmed for the exact material and intended use.

Can I request samples and test reports before bulk production?

Yes. Samples and available product-specific documentation can be provided according to the selected protective fabric and project requirement.
