What Is Flame Retardant Embossed Fabric?

Flame retardant embossed fabric uses pressure, heat, or finishing processes to create raised or recessed patterns on the fabric surface. Unlike printed designs, the texture can be physically felt and creates additional depth as light moves across the surface. BEGOODTEX offers 100% flame retardant polyester embossed fabrics in different weights and widths for curtain and interior projects.

Embossed Fabric vs. Jacquard Fabric

Both can create three-dimensional visual effects, but the pattern is formed differently. Embossed Fabric creates its surface texture after the base fabric has been produced, using a finishing process. Jacquard Fabric creates the pattern directly through the weaving structure. Embossing is useful when buyers want a tactile decorative surface without relying on a complex woven pattern, while jacquard provides a pattern that is integrated into the fabric construction.

Can Embossed Fabric Provide Light Blocking?

Yes, depending on the base construction. Embossing itself mainly creates surface texture and does not determine the blackout rate. Light blocking depends more on fabric density, yarn structure, weight, and any dimout or blackout construction underneath. BEGOODTEX currently offers embossed curtain fabrics with up to 95% shading, including 250 g/m² wide-width constructions, as well as lightweight 65 g/m² embossed curtain fabric for a more translucent decorative effect.

Embossed Fabric for Wide-Width Curtains

Embossed fabric works well for hotel curtains, residential drapery, contract interiors, decorative panels, and layered window treatments. BEGOODTEX embossed curtain fabrics are available in widths of approximately 280–300 cm, helping reduce seams in floor-to-ceiling curtains and large window installations.

What Flame Retardant Standards Can Embossed Fabric Meet?

Depending on the selected construction, BEGOODTEX embossed curtain fabrics are available with test support for standards including BS 5867 Type C, NFPA 701, CA Title 19, CAN/ULC-S109-14, DIN 4102-B1, EN 13501-1, EN 13773 Class 1, GOST R 50810-95, IMO FTPC Part 7, JIS L 1091, and UNI 9177. Not every embossed fabric carries every standard, so the applicable test report should be confirmed for the specific product and final application before ordering.
