What Is Flame Retardant Air Duct Fabric?
Flame retardant air duct fabric is a technical textile used to manufacture fabric air ducts, also known as textile ventilation ducts. BEGOODTEX offers 100% flame retardant polyester air duct fabrics in approximately 215–220 g/m² and 150 cm width, including plain, twill, and printed constructions. These fabrics are developed for flexible HVAC air-distribution systems rather than simply wrapping conventional metal ducts.Fabric Air Ducts vs. Metal Air Ducts
Fabric air ducts use lightweight textile structures to distribute conditioned air through a space, while conventional HVAC ducts are generally made from rigid metal. Textile duct systems can provide lightweight installation and more flexible air-distribution design, making them useful for commercial buildings, industrial facilities, cleanrooms, and public spaces. The correct fabric should be selected according to the duct design, airflow requirements, installation environment, and required fire performance.Does Air Duct Fabric Need Waterproof or Antibacterial Properties?
It depends on the installation environment. For general ventilation systems, flame retardancy and durability may be the main priorities. In hospitals, cleanrooms, humid environments, or specialized industrial spaces, additional properties such as water repellency, mildew resistance, wear resistance, or antibacterial finishing may be required. Selected BEGOODTEX air duct fabrics are available with optional waterproof, mildew-resistant, antibacterial, and other functional finishes. Can Fabric Air Ducts Use Printed Fabric?
Yes. Printed air duct fabric can be used when the ventilation system is visible and needs to coordinate with the interior design. What Flame Retardant Standards Can Air Duct Fabric Meet?
Depending on the selected product, BEGOODTEX flame retardant Air Duct Fabric can support standards including NFPA 701, CA Title 19, CAN/ULC-S109-14, DIN 4102-B1, EN 13773 Class 1, and JIS L 1091. Selected products also provide additional testing such as ASTM 2149, ISO 12947-2, and ISO 4920 for specific functional requirements. The applicable fire and performance standards should be confirmed for the exact fabric and final HVAC project before ordering.Flame Retardant Textile Solutions for Global Projects
