What Is IFR + Mite-proof Fabric?

IFR + Mite-proof Fabric combines flame retardant performance with functionality designed to reduce dust-mite activity or presence on textile surfaces.

BEGOODTEX's current Mite-proof category includes bedding fabrics, finished bedding, mattress fabrics, upholstery, chenille, and velvet products. The current category page describes selected products as providing ≥80% dust-mite repellency.

Why Is Mite-proof Important for Bedding and Upholstery?

Mattresses, bedding, sofas, cushions, and upholstered furniture are used for long periods and frequently come into contact with skin, dust, and indoor particles.

For this reason, anti-mite functionality is particularly relevant to hotel bedding, mattresses, guestrooms, upholstered furniture, healthcare interiors, and other high-contact environments.

For example, BEGOODTEX BG-50-101 is a 165 cm, 85 g/m², 100% FR Polyester bedding fabric currently available with Custom Mite-proof functionality.

BG-160 is a 150 cm, 327 g/m² FR Polyester upholstery fabric currently described with wear-resistant and anti-dust-mite functionality.

What Flame Retardant Standards Can IFR + Mite-proof Fabric Meet?

Flame standards depend on the final application.

For bedding, BG-50-101 currently supports BS 5815, BS 7175 Source 7, BS 7177, GOST R 50810-95, IMO FTPC Part 9, and JIS L 1091.

For upholstery, BG-160 currently lists BS 5852 Crib 5, CAL TB 117, DIN EN 1021-1, IMO FTP Code Part 8, NFPA 701, CA Title 19, CAN/ULC-S109-14, NF P92-503 M1, and JIS L 1091, together with separate abrasion testing.
