What Is IFR + Temperature Protection Fabric?
IFR + Temperature Protection Fabric combines inherent flame retardancy with thermal-control functionality for interior textile applications.
BEGOODTEX currently applies this function to a wide range of curtain constructions, including blackout, dimout, velvet, jacquard, and composite fabrics. Selected 300 cm wide FR polyester curtain fabrics combine Temperature Protection with Blackout, AntiUV, Fade-Resistant, and Soundproof functions.
How Can Curtains Help with Temperature Control?
Windows are an important path for unwanted heat gain and heat loss. The U.S. Department of Energy notes that properly used curtains, blinds, and shades can help reduce unwanted solar heat gain and improve indoor comfort.
For textile projects, dense weaving, multilayer structures, blackout constructions, coatings, and effective window coverage can all influence thermal behavior. The actual result depends on the complete curtain and installation rather than the fabric alone.
Where Is IFR + Temperature Protection Fabric Used?
Typical applications include hotel curtains, guestrooms, bedrooms, theaters, offices, meeting rooms, healthcare interiors, residential curtains, and other window-treatment projects where fire safety and indoor comfort are both important.
BEGOODTEX currently offers products such as BG-70, BG-65, and BG-96 that combine inherent flame retardancy with blackout and temperature-protection functionality for Curtains & Blinds.
What Standards Should Buyers Check?
Flame retardancy and thermal performance should be confirmed separately.
Selected BEGOODTEX Temperature Protection curtain fabrics currently support flame-retardant standards including NFPA 701, BS 5867 Type C, CA Title 19, CAN/ULC-S109-14, DIN 4102-B1, EN 13501 B-s1,d0, EN 13773 Class 1, NF P92-503 M1, GOST R 50810-95, and JIS L 1091.
These standards confirm fire-related performance, not thermal-insulation performance. Where temperature control is a key project requirement, buyers should also request product-specific thermal or solar-performance data for the finished curtain system.
