What Is Flame Retardant Mesh Fabric?

Flame retardant mesh fabric has an open structure formed by regularly spaced holes that allow air and light to pass through. BEGOODTEX offers inherent flame retardant polyester mesh in different weights, widths, pore structures, and knitted constructions for commercial and technical textile applications.

Warp-Knitted vs. Weft-Knitted Mesh

Mesh fabrics can be produced using different knitted constructions, including warp-knitted and weft-knitted mesh. Warp-knitted structures are often selected when dimensional stability and consistent mesh shape are important, while other knitted constructions can provide greater flexibility or elasticity. The correct structure depends on the final application rather than the appearance alone.

Mesh Fabric vs. Voile Fabric

Both fabrics allow light and air to pass through, but their structures are different. Mesh fabric has visible openings and is generally selected when airflow, ventilation, or an open technical structure is important. Voile fabric has a finer, more continuous sheer surface and is more commonly selected for lightweight decorative curtains and layered window treatments.

Common Uses of Flame Retardant Mesh Fabric

BEGOODTEX flame retardant mesh fabrics are used for medical and hospital curtains, roller blinds, hotel interiors, protective vests, 3D spacer fabrics, curtains, and other technical or decorative applications. Current products range from lightweight 62–90 g/m² interior mesh to heavier medical and protective mesh constructions.

What Flame Retardant Standards Can Mesh Fabric Meet?

Depending on the specific fabric and end use, BEGOODTEX flame retardant mesh fabrics can support standards including NFPA 701, BS 5867 Type C, CA Title 19, CAN/ULC-S109-14, DIN 4102-B1, and JIS L 1091. The applicable standard and test report should be confirmed for the selected fabric and final application before ordering.
